If you use a skill that changes the entire character's skin, such as invisibility or werewolf form, then the eye texture can glitch. This bug is fixed by the Official Skyrim Patch. Speak to Ungrien, the Bosmer at the counter, and ask him about Maven Black-Briar, his boss (first option out of two, and then second option out of three). The dark face bug, gray face bug or black face bug is a bug that happens to actors when their appearance is edited by the Creation Kit. If a new NPC is created or the face of an existing one is edited, then the characters tint masks need to be regenerated.

Some NPC's and even myself at one point had this bug where their skin was all black. This only seems to happen with armor like the scaled set that show the skin on the arms and such. I was able to fix it by removing and putting my armor back on but I obviously can't do that for NPC's and it is a massive eye sore and immersion breaker. I did have the 3 mods from Xenius (Detailed Faces, Body, and Blocky Face Fix) but I know I didn't muck those up and even uninstalling them makes no difference.
I don't think it is a case of mods clashing or archive invalidation as it seems to happen randomly and with certain armor sets. If anyone knows what causes this or how to fix it that would be awesome but I'm really starting to think this is just another blunder on Bethesda's end because we all know how bug free their games can be.sarcasm off.
Using this mod appears to have fixed my black skin and purple texture/ctd problems:My rig Athlon II X3 445, 8GB Ram, Win7 32, GeForce GTS 250 2GBI run things fairly high, with textures definitely on high. I haven't noticed much in the way of quality loss, and the game sure does run a lot more stable.Description is as follows:TESV Reduced Texture Pack 1.0First please forgive my poor English.I also know that most computers have don't need it, but maybe someone need. When I went to the launcher I went to the graphical settings, and turned them all on to high/ultra because high graphics I can't live without which ended up worsening the problem.
But then doing a bit of research (reading replies/posts) and seeing it had to do with mods that changed npc meshes/textures and conflicts with said mods I realized that putting the mods that change the npc meshes/textures and possibly conflict down at the bottom of the load order may or may not fix it and so I did exactly that and loaded up the game an viola said problem was fixed.Edited by DBCreeper, 27 February 2014 - 10:42 PM.

If you sign out of your profile during a load screen, then quickly sign back in after earning the Achievement ', it will display the achievement as being unlocked; however, no Gamerscore will be given and the amount of achievements shown will be 1 less than it should be if this happens.
