I've always been on Time Warner so why am I getting this error? This merger had been a complete cluster f.!You cannot use the app on your Roku outside your home. 'TV Anywhere.' really means TV anywhere in your home. You couldn't use the TWC app outside your home before the merger. The merger has nothing to do with it. You must be connected to an authorized TWC modem and/or router which is tied to your account.I attempted to use my Roku to watch TV while on travel, and I was advised by an error message stating something to the effect that, 'You must be connected to a modem authorized to your Time Warner Account.'

If a channel is included in your Spectrum TV subscription, you can use your Spectrum username and password to sign in to the TV channel app. Note: After creating a new Spectrum.net username, you'll need to wait 24-72 hours before you can use it to sign in to any TV channel apps. Re: App won't work outside my home I'm surprised Spectrum doesn't have a system in place where you can register a set number of devices so you can watch channels away from home. That would help keep a lid, somewhat at least, on password sharing.

Think about it for a second. If you could watch 'TV Anywhere', everyone would be creating ID's for all their friends and 'sharing' the cable service. This would NEVER fly with the networks, who want to control dissemenation of their content. You will have better luck using the individual channel apps on your Roku to watch content (such as FX Now, FOX Now, etc.). I'm surprised Spectrum doesn't have a system in place where you can register a set number of devices so you can watch channels away from home.

That would help keep a lid, somewhat at least, on password sharing.I get that they want to protect their intellectual property but the above is one way and I'm sure there are others to help rectify that situation. On a related noted. What the eff is wrong with the local commercial channels? Why don't they allow for viewing away from home?

I would get inundated with the same commercials away from home as I am at home. That doesn't make send to me. You will never be allowed to use a device to watch your video subscription at an address that is not yours using your TWC / Spectrum TV app. Some channels are available via a browser, but they are far and few - think CSPAN. Provided TWC / Spectrum has a deal in place, you can make use of the individual channel apps to watch some programming away from home - like FX and FOX and NBSCN.2. Local commercial channels? Like your local CBS or ABC Station? Nobody wants to stomp on another affilliate.

Channels

Local revenue and ad buys are important, especially for independently owned network affiliates. Besides, each individual station needs to negotaite a carriage agreement. If you really really want to be able to use your Roku away from home to watch some programming, do this:1. Cancel your video service from TWC / Spectrum.2. Keep internet.3. Subscribe to SLingTV, PSVuw, or DirecTV Now.You will be able to use your Roku anywhere to watch your programming. Some flavors of SlingTV only offer one stream at a time (Orange), the other (Blue) offers three. You could also invest in a SlingBox, and use that to stream the content from your Cable SetTop Box anywhere. I'm certainly not advocating cable theft, but I would like some added value for the $200 a month I am currently spending on cable TV and Internet.

Perhaps register a phone or tablet as a device, not a cable box, to watch the entire lineup of channels away from home. Who would just give someone their personal phone on a long term basis to steal cable? You need your phone for other things, afterall. And if you change your phone, then you have to re-register it and you can't have more than 1 phone registered. I don't think that's unreasonable.

It'll probably never happen, but it's not unreasonable. Wrote:Thats the think though. When I am out of town, I can use the Spectrum App. On my Surface or laptop or IOS phone. Yes, the channels are limited but I could still watch something.

Thsi error was different. Iot was wanting me to log in to Charter account which I don't have.It doesn't matter what the error message is. Eventaully every gateway for the service whill be a 'spectrum' one.The Roku TWC app (now the Spectrum app) has never worked when not connected to your home LAN.

The only TV I can watch 'anywhere' with my TWC credentials is CSPAN and FX via a computer web browser. When I've tried to use my Roku away from home, I was prompted for my credentials, which I provided (this was before the merger), and the error message received was that I was not connected to my home network.

I was trying to connect on someone else's TWC internet connection, so that explains why I even got to a point where I could enter my username and password. The TWC / Spectrum Roku app is not a way for you to be able to watch your TV lineup while on travel, at your second home, or at your friend's home across town.
