I played the majority of the season as well, and for the most part it wasn't too horrible. Later I found out that this was because I had GREAT DMs. I bought the first seven adventure to run for my home group, and all but one were just awful. After six adventures I moved them to the printed WOTC product, best DM choice I ever made. If folks want to play 14 adventures that have very little to do with Ravenloft, were written and edited poorly, and need a ton of prep work then it's your dollar. If you want something closer to classic Ravenloft, go for the printed WOTC book and ignore Season 4.
Was a waste of money in comparison.

Keeping a sentient weapon equipped and the sentient weapon narraration volume up can help you notice when you're gripped, as the sentient weapon will make a remark about being unable to move. If you find yourself gripped, the best course of action is spamming, 'g' into chat, or saying, 'I am gripped.' . The two players with the Icon of Ravenloft and Holy Symbol are responsible for removing grip from affected party members.
The Icon and Symbol will remove the grip affect, which will otherwise kill the affected player within seconds. They have 3 uses each, but will quickly regenerate 1 use each time they are fully depleted, assuming you keep them equipped. The trinkets must be equipped before being used, so it's recommended to keep them equipped throughout any portion of the raid in which grip occurs.
